What exactly is “geoterium”? And how is it that it is rumored to be a good alternative for fossil fuel?

by admin on March 31, 2010

I have been searching for information about it on some search engines but there wasn’t any information about it and not a lot of people, even those on oil and gas industry are familiar with it. Sounds like it is just a theory but when some “vague” information was relayed on me it seemed to be more than just a rumor. If this turns out to be true, it will help a lot to ease the “oil-related” burden of most fossil fuel consumer countries.

It is a made up name for deuterium.

There was a scam in the Philippines involving a Philipine congressman who had “divine inspiration” that mining the deuterium in the ocean there for a fuel source would solve all of their socio-economic problems. There were some investors who put money into a firm to ‘mine’ the material and one meeting then apparently nothing more.

It’s not considered even remotely feasible to mine deuterium from the sea floor by any technical or scientific organization that I can find.
