@3ddonovan Guys like me who burn vegetable oil as fuel need to change the engine oil more often because the vegetable oil combustion in the cylinder mixes slightly with engine oil and that contaminated engine oil first attacks the valves! So it you are serious you are likely in real trouble right about now.

@3ddonovan I highly doubt that it works really well. The chemistry between vegetable based oil and crude based oil is very different when it comes to lubrication of metals and longevity of that lubrication property! I bet if you are still driving your car with veg. oil as the lubrication of motor oil you have added a 10,000 miles of wear and tear for every mile you drove down the street.

@05harty You can run it on new diesels as well. My friend just got his 2004 Cummins on oil ! So far, no problems. The only problem with a newer engine might be the injector pump or the injectors, but if your oil is hot enough, it’s no problem!

use the vegetable oil AS FUEL not engine oil.

on old diesels

I use new clean Vegetable oil as motor oil and it works real well.

Ford and George Washing Carver worked together on ‘alternative’ fuels together for a while as well! Interesting stuff!!!

plant oils and fish oils are generally good for you. the fats in candy bars aren’t.

Interesting that this type of advanced, high-functioning person tends to have such a plain and modest manner.
I would like to be more like him.

i knew that, its pretty amazing that the world was so close to be energy efficient, and pollutant free as far as vehicles go, if ford would of made it run on ethanol, i think all the other car manufactures would have to. world would be great

akshona January 27, 2010 at 7:43 pm

Did you know Fords Model-T was actually designed to run off Ethanol
